Currency Information
The Currency Information Fields of the Add New User and Modify Existing User screens allows the currency fields to be updated for the selected user. The following fields are provided for controlling the currency rules:
Pilot Type - the type of pilot selected determines the currency fields that will show in the remainder of the Currency Information Field. The pilot types are:
No Currency Required - the pilot does not have to satisfy any currency rules and is always cleared to fly. This selection should only be used for maintenance usernames as all currency rules are bypassed.
Student Pilot - the pilot holds a student pilot certificate.
Pilot Under 200 - private pilot with less than 200 hours logged.
Pilot Over 200 - private pilot with more than 200 hours logged.
Instrument - instrument rated pilot.
CFI - flight instructor (instrument rules also apply).
The currency fields displayed below the Pilot Type are determined by the Pilot Type picked. The fields and how they apply for each pilot type is discussed in Currency Rules.
Membership Status - the current status of the user. This field is used in generating reports on the membership. The membership status may be:
Active - active member
Inactive - the member is inactive.
Aircraft - the username is the maintenance number for an aircraft. An aircraft that is checked out using a username that corresponds to the N-number of the aircraft will be logged as maintenance time.
Resigned - the member has resigned and is no longer a member.
Medical Type - specifies the medical type for the user. The Medical Type may be:
Special Medical - the medical is a special issue medical. When Special Medical is picked, the Date Medical Issued field becomes the Date Medical Expires field. In this case, the normal medical currency rules won't apply and the medical will be invalid after the date given for the Date Medical Expires field.
1ST Medical - the medical is a first class medical.
2ND Medical - the medical is a second class medical.
3RD Medical - the medical is a third class medical.
Note: The 1ST Medical is treated as a 2ND Medical after the expiration date. The 2ND Medical is treated as a 3RD Medical after the expiration date.
Date Medical Issued - the date the medical was issued. This field becomes Date Medical Expires if Special Medical is picked as the Medical Type. In this case, the normal medical currency rules won't apply and the medical will be invalid after the date given for the Date Medical Expires field.
Check Currency Button - displays the user's currency information using the Check Currency Screen. After changing any of the currency fields, selecting the Check Currency Button is a quick way to see if the user is current to fly the rental aircraft.
Note: The Check Currency Button saves all changes before displaying the currency information.
The dates entered in the Currency Information fields are the issue dates (with the exception of the Date Medical Expires field for Special Medicals) for the particular item, the program will apply the currency rules to determine the expiration dates for the different rules. For example, a student pilot has a Class III medical issued on March 5, 2000 and a birth date of May 16, 1980. The Date Medical Issued is set to March 5, 2000, the Medical Type is 3RD Medical and the Birth Date field is set to May 16, 1980. The program will look in the database for the medical rule for a student pilot and will determine that the medical is required for solo flight, the student pilot was less than 40 years old when the medical was issued, so the expiration date of the medical will be March 31, 2003.
